The European Image
A Grand Tour
Matthew Moss, during his Grand Tour, recorded as did the seventeenth and eighteenth-century European painters, Poussin, Fragonard and Turner, impressions of of the European continent’s beauties. The artist habitually created these singular works of art, directly in front of the scenes described. This may go some way to explaining their fresh clean colours, clear sharp singular forms.
