Philip Hussey Attributed to the Irish painter. Cork 1713 – Dublin 1783. Worked principally in Dublin. A Cork (Cloyne) Ireland self-taught painter with a haphazard career from sailor ending up up in Dublin as a portrait-painter under the patronage of the
British lord chancellor of Ireland.His chosen subjects are single portraits of which this painting is a typical example.
